Airborn Aircraft Carrier

Description

This airship is based heavily on the various airborne fortress from the Ace Combat series. This design is NOT currently part of Echo of Bullets storyline despite how happy I am with the outcome.

This airship is made to launch and land aircraft and is made for extremely long flight time (Currently up to one month continuous flight time). Though it has twelve engines (Spectrum, version 10, type 14 engines) usually only eight to ten are on at one time, the others are used for backup and to switch out every once in a while for maintenance. This beast can carry a surprisingly high number of various aircraft that are lowered and raised by the large elevator that is on one side of the runway. Though it has no weapons mounted on it, it is very effective at inflicting massive damage indirectly through the skilled fighter pilots and heavily armed bombers it hauls. When it needs to land it does so in open water, it has a huge floatation device on the underside and has pontoon tubes on both wings for stability. Lastly it has layer apon layer apon layer of armor and protective parts, it is thought that no fighter will possess the firepower needed to fell this monster.

UPDATE: I have added a new feature. I like airships but they are unable to leave a planet's atmosphere so they are limited to a single planet, however, this one has been made capable of very high altitude flight which is about the same as most starships' minimum altitude. What it does is basically it straps itself to the underside of a starship, and that starship in turn can take it to another planet and drop it off.

Seeing this deviation makes me think of another one: Bodan Epsilon from 1942 Joint Strike.
